About TuitionScope
TuitionScope turns the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard into plain-language college pages: what a school really costs, how hard it is to get into and what its graduates earn.
Why we built this
College is one of the biggest financial decisions many families make, and the sticker price is rarely what anyone pays. Our goal is to put the official numbers (net price, acceptance rate, graduation rate, graduate earnings and debt) in one place, with context and a clear source for every figure.
What we publish
- Profiles for 2,567 U.S. colleges and universities: cost, admissions, outcomes, programs and similar schools.
- State pages, rankings, free calculators and guides to financial aid.
- A methodology page that documents every data source and formula.
Editorial standards
- Every number comes from a named official source, such as the College Scorecard, and shows its data period. We never estimate, extrapolate or invent figures.
- When a value is missing or withheld for privacy, we say so instead of filling it in.
- Calculations are published in full on the methodology page, and the same code checks the data before each release.
- We use cautious wording: statistics describe groups of past students, not what will happen to you.
- Guides list their sources so you can read the originals.
Independence
TuitionScope is an independent publisher. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education or by any college or university. College names are used only to identify institutions.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use and is supported by advertising. Ads are labeled and kept separate from content. We do not charge colleges, accept payment to change data or rankings, or let advertisers see or alter our numbers.
If we ever add another source of revenue, we will disclose it on this page.
English and Spanish
Every main page is available in English and in Spanish. Each language is written as its own edition in natural U.S. Spanish or English, not run through an automatic page-translation tool. Data and formulas are identical in both.
Corrections
If you find an error, email info@tuitionscope.com with the page address and what you saw. We check the claim against the raw Scorecard file and correct confirmed mistakes promptly.
Errors in the source data itself must be fixed by the school's reporting to the Department of Education; see contact for how that works.
